Projects of a Dressmaker ep 2-1930’s style dress with the most EPIC sleeves – DIY vintage dress

I take you behind the scenes of my latest vintage fashion sewing project… This stunning 1930’s inspired velvet dress!

I take you on a sewing and fashion creation journey, from my inspiration to, the pattern I used to start, the fitting process and all the sewing and all the changes along the way! In vlog style!

I find sewing projects of new designs rarely go as planned! Things always happen along the way.

You might run into fabric issues, design changes as the garment comes together, perhaps changes to the construction process as you get into it, and of course, with any new pattern… fit adjustments!

Every new project has its challenges, but it’s all part of the ‘fun’!

I certainly had my challenges in this one! Mostly fitting the velvet on the bias… and the pattern I started with would not be the one I choose again!

I tell all my students: Don’t give up on your sewing projects half way through, just re-evaluate, re-plan, and keep going! It I let fitting issues stop me I wouldn’t have this gorgeous ( very new favorite) dress!

It is a little different, more behind the scenes!

Let me know your thought on what you found the most interesting!

    1. Thanks so much Melissa! I think this is my favorite video too! So I am sure I will make some more! A lot of people have commented on wanting, even more, detail of the process, so I think it will be included next time!
